It is watermelon season! I have some fun watermelon themed activities for math and literacy to do with your preschoolers!
Watermelon Themed Activities
Color Word Tracing and Matching
This first activity can be done in a couple of different ways. You can cut the strips apart and have your preschoolers match the watermelon to each strip. You can also not cut them and glue the colored watermelon to the matching colored strip. This is a great way to get your preschoolers to identify colors and use the words to match each strip.
Color Matching Sensory Bin
For this one, I made a watermelon sensory bin. This bin was actually used for a ladybug-themed activity but I figured it was close to watermelon colors, so we went with that. This is an additional activity to the one above but you’re using a recording sheet vs the color strips.
I like this recording sheet because you can do with with the cards or do it on its own by tracing the letters to match the color.
Watermelon 2D Shapes
How cute are these!? Match the watermelon shape to the watermelon vine. Once your preschooler finishes, they can trace the shape words.
Watermelon Seed Counting
One last math activity for you! Your preschooler will pick a watermelon card, count the seeds, then trace the number that matches. Once your preschooler is done, they can put the seed cards in order, too!
These are some of the math activities included but there are also some literacy activities in this pack!
