I love finding ways to work on the letters on our name for any theme. This turkey name activity will be a perfect addition to your preschool classroom this November.
Turkey Name Activity Supplies
Turkey Name Activity Set up
I drew the turkeys and feathers then cut them out. On each turkey, I drew a face and wrote their name. I wrote one letter on each feather, too! I hung up the turkeys and feathers all over the wall using painter’s tape! This made them need to move around to find and grab their letter feathers.
How to use
They would use the name on their turkey body to find the letters in their name. Once they found a letter in their name they would put the feathers in order on the turkey. We love to do turkey activities the week before and the week of Thanksgiving.
How to Extend Turkey Name Activity:
No Name
I love an activity that can be extended or used with different levels of learners. For this one, you could leave the name off the body and have your preschoolers work on their names without a guide. This would be ideal for kids who know the letters in their names and need a fun way to practice the letters in their names.
Sight Word Building
For the older kiddos, you could give them a list of sight words that they will need to read and then build using the feathers. If you are working one on one with a child, say the word instead of them giving a list of words. This will be a great assessment of whether the child can spell certain words.
CVC Words
Instead of putting the child’s name on the body, put a picture of an object your child will spell. For example, add a picture of a cat to the body, and your child will find the letters and spell the word cat. There are a lot of different CVC words you can use.
