I have a fun turkey feather activity for you to try with your preschooler that focuses on colors and you can even add some counting into this one.
Turkey Feather Activity Supplies:
I use a long piece of easel paper, but you can also use printer paper. Whatever type of paper you have at home. You could even draw a different colored turkey/beak on each piece of printer paper.
Turkey Feather Activity Set Up:
This turkey preschool activity is so easy to do! First, I drew turkey bodies with different colored turkey beaks on each one. Your preschooler will use the colored beaks to complete this activity so make sure each turkey has a different colored beak on it.
How to Use Activity:
My preschoolers took their markers and drew turkey feathers on each turkey. They matched the color of the feathers to the beak. Matching colors, shapes, numbers, or letters are a great way to add a little practice while your kiddos have some fun! As you can see, they just drew lines on each turkey. This was something they could easily do vs trying to draw an actual feather. The focus of the activity was not drawing a feather but matching colors!
Things to Remember
Before they drew the feathers, have them identify each color on the beak and what color their marker is.
After they draw turkey feathers, you can have them count how many feathers they drew on each turkey body.
You could also put a number on each turkey and draw the matching number of turkey feathers, too!
If you want some extra counting practice, check out this turkey feather counting sensory bin activity! This is the perfect activity to do after you complete this one. Have your preschoolers count the feathers they drew on each turkey, then have them practice counting the turkey feathers in this sensory bin freebie.
