I have a big freebie for you! New Year activities you can use with your preschoolers at home during or after winter break! This freebie includes math, literacy, and art activities.
New Year Activities
Number Match
First, I have an activity to share with you that can be differentiated and used in many different ways. Your preschooler can pick a star card, count the stars, then find the number card that matches. For an extra step, your preschooler can trace the number that they picked. For kiddos working on number matching, they can pick a card, identify (or you identify), then they can trace the number on their recording sheet. Bonus activity: Have your preschooler put all the numbers in order!
Letter Tracing
Next, grab some dry-erase markers and have your preschooler trace each letter card. You could also use magnetic letters or letter manipulatives and do a matching activity. Pick a card, identify, and match it. As an added bonus, have your preschooler put the letters in order!
New Year Tracing Lines
I have another tracing activity, but you can do it in two different ways. Grab mini erasers or dry beans then have your preschooler trace the lines with their objects. This is a great fine motor activity to start the New Year with ;)! The second way is to use dry-erase markers and trace each line.
New Year Activities – Art
Lastly, I have an activity for art and literacy activity in one. Your preschooler will color the firework or New Year’s hat. Then, they will add in the missing letter. This is a great way to get your preschooler listening for those beginning sounds plus practice writing letters!
