Looking for a dental health activity for your preschool kiddos? I have a freebie to share that will focus on 2D shapes. Those shapes can be tricky to learn!
Supplies/Set up
For this activity, you will just need to download the freebie file, print, and laminate (I love these laminating pouches)! I set up our tooth shape mats on the carpet. Then, I had the 2D floss shapes in a pile that they could choose from.
For the sensory bin, I added white beans as our filler because they kind of look like teeth and put each 2D shape card inside. We did the matching mats first then did the sensory bin, so keep that in mind when setting up 🙂
Dental Health Activity Tips
After setting up the activity, you will have your preschooler pick a 2D shape card, identify the shape, and then match it to the shape mat. Go through all the cards and help when they get stuck on a shape. When they finish, you can have them trace the shape word on each mat.
After they match the shapes, you can put the shapes into a sensory bin. Print the recording sheet and have them do the activity again, but this time they will pick a shape, identify, and trace the shape on their recording sheet. You can repeat this activity again and have them color in the shape instead of tracing it.
I created this activity for dental health month and wanted to make sure that you could use it in a few different ways. This way you can leave it in your activity centers for a while. It is the perfect dental health activity that will review 2D shapes along with some fine motor (tracing the shape words and shapes).
