Back-to-school season is *almost* here and I have a simple beginning sounds center for kindergarten that can be used in a few different ways so all your students will be working on literacy!
This center activity can be used in 3 different ways and I want to show you how you can use it!
Beginning Sounds Match
Beginning sounds is the main focus of the center. Place the object cards into your center bin or sensory bin (we love this one with these bins)! Your kindergartners will pick a card and color the beginning letter on their recording sheet (there is an uppercase letter recording sheet and a lowercase letter recording sheet). This is a great way to review beginning sounds and identify new words through the different objects. Each object is a different school image from A to Z!
Letter Match (Same Letter)
The next way to use this center is to add the letter cards to your center bin. Add all the uppercase letters or lowercase letters (choose one) then put the matching recording sheet in your center. Your kindergartner will pick a letter, identify it, and find the exact match on their paper.
Letter Match (Opposite Letters)
The final way to use this center is to add the letter cards to your center bin. Then, pick the opposite recording sheet to put in there. If you put all the uppercase letter cards into your center, then put the lowercase recording sheet in there. Your kindergartner will pick a letter, identify it, and find the match on their paper. This is a great way for your students to see the differences and similarities in each letter. It also can be a great kindergarten assessment for matching uppercase and lowercase letters.
Setting up your centers with all your student’s needs in mind is key and having this center ready in three different ways will help all your students to be successful. Grab all three versions of this center HERE!
